7 Ways To Get Organised For The New Year

Change is in the air. The new year is drawing ever near and it's now time to start thinking about your future goals and achievements and to start setting your New Years resolutions.

The problem with making New Years resolutions is that we don't plan them out correctly, then we give up and forget about them after a few weeks. We get excited and determined about making a big life change when the new year comes around but we don't actually do any work towards it.

Making positive changes in your life, no matter how big or small, takes a lot of preparation and organisation to do. You have to be ready to make this change happen, as opposed to journey at going with the flow.

Getting organised and prepared for the new year may sound like a nightmare but it actually doesn't need to be too difficult and doesn't have to take up too much time either! Just a few small steps will help you out majorly on the 1st January! Below I've listed some helpful tasks to help you get organised before the new year hits.

1. Sort Through Your Emails

If you're anything like me, you'll forget about your mailbox for a few days and before you know it, you're flooded with so many emails that you don't even bother going through them. Don't drag your cluttered mailbox into 2018 with you! Put on some big girl or boy pants and go through those emails! Yes, all 8000 of them! You don't even have to set aside some time to do this, just simply do it when you have a spare 5 minutes!

2. Clean Out Your Wardrobe

Don't go into 2018 with a wardrobe full of clothes that you hate and will never wear. By clearing out the clothes that you won't wear again, you will make mornings so much easier for yourself in the new year! Plus, you'll make room for a whole new collection of clothes that you WILL wear.

3. Phone Storage

Isn't it annoying that you only have a certain amount of storage on your phone?  It's even more annoying when you run out of that storage space. With all the health apps and more that we will be downloading in the new year, clear up your storage now by deleting unnecessary apps, photos that you don't need or want and music that you don't even listen to.

4. Know What You Want From The Year Ahead

This is an important one! Know your goals for 2018. What do you want to do? What would you like to achieve? Where do you want to be in a year's time? By knowing your goals, you can put together a fool-proof plan to ensure that you accomplish them.

5. Buy A Journal

Bullet journaling has become my new obsession recently and it's a saviour when you're extremely busy. Keep track of all your events, priorities and goals in one place. A journal is something you can carry with you anywhere and can refer to at anytime. You'll never be double booked again.

6. Learn To Say No

This is a hard one but also a necessary one. I'm too nice sometimes, and often say yes to something that I don't want or have the time to do, just because I don't want to disappoint anyone. This has often left me in a sticky situation and feeling incredibly stressed. It's okay to say no, especially if saying yes means that your sidetracking your own important errands.

7. Put Together A Finance Plan

This is another important one that people don't always think about. A finance plan is the perfect way to manage your money and make sure that you're not left short, especially when you really need that money. Be practical with what you spend your money on. Often when you have to write down your transactions, you think to yourself can I really justify this spend? Is it really worth it? If the answer is no, don't buy it.
